About Christie

About Christie:

Always a stand-out student, even within the renowned studio of Dr. Irene Peery-Fox, Christie easily made the transition to studying with Leon Fleisher and Dmitri Boshkirov as a young adult. Christie Peery has performed extensively as a soloist with symphony orchestras around the world including the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, Utah Symphony, and Samara Philharmonic, performing with such conductors as Joseph Silverstein, Peter Schickele, Mikhail Sherbakov, and Ignat Solzhenitzyn. Orchestral and solo performances have taken her to Geneva, Moscow, Calgary, Michigan, Texas, Colorado, California, Baltimore, and New York. She has won numerous national and international competitions including the Corpus Christi International and the Missouri Southern International. Other international prizes for Christie include the Junior division of the Gina Bachauer International and the Joanna Hodges Competition in California

Ms. Peery-Skousen currently serves as the Master Teacher and founder of Peery Piano Academy and is the author of the Peery Piano Habits Program, a conservatory style teaching and certification system based on the teachings of Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. She serves on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory Preparatory where she is head of the First Steps at the Keyboard program. Her students are frequent prize winners in local and national competitions and perform as soloists and with orchestras throughout the Bay Area

"Christie is a truly wonderful teacher. She is both genuinely artistic and
quite sophisticated about the entire spectrum of piano pedagogy."
